Established over 80 years ago, Coxmoore was founded on a passion to create the highest quality knitwear. These values remain at the heart of the business today.
1920's
In 1925 Arthur James Moore MBE and colleagues Mr H H Cox and Mr Wm Shipstone open a small factory in a tenement building in Nottingham. Their aim was to produce the highest quality men’s half hose by using only the finest materials and the highest standards of craftsmanship.
1930's
Coxmoore stopped their standard operation and began manufacturing for the Armed Forces when war broke out in Europe in 1939. During this busy period knitting machine operators worked a 60 hour week to cope with demand.
1940's
Coxmoore open a second works in Ilkeston, Derbyshire where hand-framed knitwear is produced. After the war the company experiences tremendous success in the export market and as a result Chairman Mr A J Moore is honoured with an MBE. In 1948 Coxmoore supplies kit to the British Olympic Hockey Team.
1950's
Following the post-war economic boom Coxmoore diversifies production, introducing new items such as the ‘Cheltenham’ waistcoat and hand twisted cable-knit sweaters.
1960's
The Rt Hon Edward Heath MP opens a £100,000 extension made to the factory at Long Eaton to meet demands for high quality English knitwear. In 1968 Coxmoore receives the Queen’s Award for Exports.

Coxmoore celebrates its 50 year anniversary. The company’s global exports now account for over 60% of garments manufactured. The Coxmoore collections can be found worldwide and have become firm favourites at top American stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Brooks.
